Convert
These tools turn a document from one format into another — Office files to PDF, a PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPoint, images, text, Markdown or HTML, a web page to PDF, and scanned PDFs into searchable ones. Each opens as its own page: drop a file (or, for one tool, type a web address), set the few options it needs, and press the one button.
Before you start
You need a file of the right type for the tool you're using. Word/Excel/PowerPoint to PDF runs through LibreOffice on the engine and can take a little while for large documents. PDF to Word is best effort — the page says so plainly: "Best effort — layout may differ." OCR (make searchable) can run on your device once its language pack is installed; without one, it needs an internet connection.

Tips
- PDF to Word is best effort by design — for anything you'll need to reformat heavily, it may be quicker to start from the original Office file if you still have it.
- Run OCR (make searchable) before PDF to Word, PDF to Excel, PDF to PowerPoint, PDF to HTML or PDF to Markdown on a scanned document — those converters read the text layer, and a scan has none until OCR adds it.
- HTML to PDF only reaches pages on the open internet — an address on a private network or an internal server is refused.
- PDF to images hands back a single zip file whenever the PDF has more than one page; a one-page PDF comes back as a single image.
- On PDF to images, PDF to text or OCR (make searchable), if the page isn't giving you enough control, look for Open in full editor under the file — with a single file picked, it hands that file to the full editor with this tool already selected.
- Any converter's automatic preview only happens for files up to 25 MB — a larger file still converts, just from a button instead of the moment you drop it.
