If something goes wrong

Opening a template:

  • "This letter template wasn't found. It may have been deleted." or "This letter template couldn't be opened. Try again in a moment." — select Back to letter templates.
  • "You can use this template but not change it." — you may write letters with it (Use this template); to change it, make a copy ("A copy is yours to change.").

What the "Fix these before saving:" list may say. Each sentence also appears beside the part it is about. In them, <n> is the number of the field or paragraph, <field> the field's label and <name> its name:

  • Give the template a title.
  • Field <n> needs a label.
  • Two fields are called "<name>". Give each field its own name.
  • Field "<field>" is a list with no choices. Add at least one choice.
  • Field "<field>" lists the choice "<choice>" twice.
  • Field "<field>" has an empty or too long choice. — or: Field "<field>" has more than 50 choices.
  • Field "<field>" has a label, hint or placeholder that is too long.
  • Paragraph <n> uses a field that no longer exists: <name>. — the same for The subject, a letterhead line or a signature line. Put the field back with Undo, or remove the red chip.
  • Paragraph <n> has a "Show only if" rule about a field that no longer exists: <name>.
  • Paragraph <n> has a "Show only if" rule with nothing to compare "<field>" with.
  • Paragraph <n> compares "<field>" with "<answer>", which isn't one of its choices. — a choice was changed after the rule was made; choose the rule again.
  • Paragraph <n> writes "<field>" as a Nepali date in words, but it isn't a Bikram Sambat date field. — or: Paragraph <n> writes "<field>" as a long English date, but it isn't an AD date field. The field's Type was changed; choose another Write it as on the chip.
  • Fill in your own letterhead, or choose another letterhead option. — or: The letterhead needs between 1 and 4 lines.
  • The template's title is too long. Keep it under 200 characters. — or: The template has too much text. Keep it under 20,000 characters.
  • There are more problems. Fix these first, then check again.

Saving:

  • "The template couldn't be saved.", with the reason, or "Try again in a moment."
  • "The template couldn't be saved. Check it and try again." in the list above the tabs — DocuFlow's server found a problem the builder didn't.
  • "You're offline, so DocuFlow can't check that you may create templates here. Your work is kept on this device; save it once you're connected."
  • For a newer version, a deleted template, or one you may no longer change, see Drafts and conflicts.

The letterhead logo:

  • "Choose a PNG or JPEG image." / "Choose a PNG or JPEG image under 1 MB." / "The image is too large. Use one up to 4000 × 4000 pixels."
  • "The logo couldn't be uploaded. Try again in a moment."
  • "The logo couldn't be shown here. It is still part of this letterhead."

The More menu:

  • "Your copy couldn't be made." / "A copy couldn't be made." / "That version couldn't be restored." / "The template couldn't be exported." / "The newer version couldn't be opened." / "The proposal couldn't be withdrawn." / "It couldn't be added to the workspace templates." — each with the reason, or "Try again in a moment."
  • "The other changes couldn't be opened." — "They may have been saved or discarded on the other device.", or the reason.
  • "The proposal changed while it was being added. Try again."
